Although veterinary costs are seen to be high by many people, it must be kept in mind that the costs of medicines, highly skilled staff and specialist equipment and facilities are sometimes astronomical. Many of our routine surgery cases such as bitch spays and dog castrations, are actually priced below cost to the practice!To provide the exceptionally high standards expected from Veterinary Surgeries we do require payment at the time of consultation by cash, cheque or credit card. We also require a deposit for major surgical cases or in the event where prolonged hospitalisation and treatment will be required.
Insurance
We recognise the fact that in today's unstable economical climate it it is not always easy to afford very expensive procedures that could mean the difference between life and death for our beloved pets, therefore we STRONGLY recommend Pet Insurance for peace of mind. Many different policies are available to suit everyone's needs and we advise that you investigate the details of every plan carefully as many hidden pitfalls exist.There has been a change in the pet insurance industry and it is now under the auspices of the F.S.A.
This means that from now on we can only discuss pet insurance generally without advising on specific companies. More importantly it also means we cannot speak to the insurance companies on your behalf when sorting out a claim. From now on, when your insured animal receives treatment we ask you to contact your insurance company to get a claim form. Bring the claim form in to us and we will fill out our portion of the form. We will call you to pick up the completed forms, normally 2-4 weeks later depending on volume of claims. You then complete your section of the form and send it off.
Any queries regarding the claim are then a matter between you and the insurance company. Any queries regarding these changes in the regulations don't hesitate to talk to us.
