RCVS PRACTICE SCHEME

We would like to make you aware of a scheme that the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, which is the regulatory body of the veterinary surgeons, has in place.
RCVS Accredited Practice
The RCVS launched a public campaign this year to make people aware of a voluntary accreditation programme for veterinary practices in the UK which offers official recognition of the high standards of these practices. To become accredited the practices volunteer to rigorous inspection every 4 years, including checks on hygiene, staff training, certain equipment to mention just a few.

We are proud to announce that we have achieved the coveted Tier 2 Status under the strict Practice Standards Scheme of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

WINTER AND BUNNIES

A little note for rabbit owners:
  • Make sure that your rabbit/s has access to fresh grass throughout the winter; they don’t mind a bit of cold weather.
  • When the grass is wet is harder for them to break it down and really helps to keep their back teeth healthy!
  • It will also help to keep the weight down because they will be eating less pellets.
  • Grass provides them with everything they need. Imagine how the wild rabbits have survived all this years without pellets!!
Try it!!, just make sure they have a hutch or a run where they can hide and feel warm if they need to.

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER!

This September Anna, our senior vet, tied the knot with her long term partner and Kobus, our clinical director became a first time daddy of baby Lois Leigh. Mother and baby are fine and parents are delighted, we are also very happy for them.

We would like to welcome Mhairi, our new and enthusiastic vet, who joined us in September. We would also like to congratulate Stefanie, one of our qualified VN that has just passed a Companion Animal Behaviour Course by the BNVA (British Veterinary Nursing Association), and Jo, one of our trainee nurses, who has just past her first year of veterinary nursing.

Well done!!!

ICY TOES

Now that winter is here we would like to remind you that the cold gets into your pets’s bones as well as ours.

It might be a good idea to :
  • Get them a coat for the winter days so they don’t get cold or wet when they go out.
  • Dry their paws thoroughly after walks , specially if its raining or its wet outside.
  • If it has snowed remember to remove from their feet any snow and salt that got stuck between their pads and dry them after. It can be very uncomfortable and its not good for the joints to get that cold.
If in doubt that he/she is a bit stiff and might be suffering from osteoarthritis its worth having them checked, he/she might be in pain.
