Preparation room

The preparation room is the hub of the practice. This is where a thorough clinical examination is carried out prior to anaesthesia and where blood samples are taken for pre-operative information or for diagnostic purposes.

Pre-medication is administered shortly after patients are admitted for procedures and will lead to sedation so that stress is reduced. Balanced pre-medication including pain relief will also significantly reduce the amount of anaesthetics used so that recovery is rapid and as comfortable as possible.

A second anaesthetic machine here allows dental work and minor procedures to be carried out. We have ultra-sonic scaling which achieves superior cleaning and polishing equipment for the perfect finish. Our high speed drill and full set of dental instruments allows us to deal with most dental procedures.

Patients are prepared for surgery in the preparation room. Intravenous anaesthetic is given, then an intra tracheal tube is placed down the airways to facilitate oxygen and anaesthetic gas administration to the patient. We also prepare the surgery site by clipping the hair around the area to prevent contamination during surgery.
