Euthanasia

A dignified end for a loved pet, when to continue would mean suffering and unhappiness for all.

It is an unfortunate fact that our pets will not usually die peacefully as we might hope. Many times there would be a period of decline with pain and suffering which might last for some extended time before natural death. To continue would lead to an intolerably unhappy life for all concerned. It is indeed fortunate that we are able to release our family pets from this by means of a painless injection which allows them to simply 'go to sleep' and drift away quietly and peacefully.

The injection is normally given directly into a vein in the front leg just like an anaesthetic. In a matter of minutes consciousness is lost and the heart will stop soon after. An appointment will usually be made to come in at a quiet time and owners often wish to be present when euthanasia is carried out. We take great care to be sympathetic and understanding at these times.

We have all had to make these decisions ourselves and understand just how difficult it is. It is necessary for us to be brave in the best interest of our pets.
